Nova Scotia
Begin your trip in historic Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia. Its seafaring and shipping heritage thrives to this day
and the bustling harbor area should be one of your stops, as should the delightful public gardens. Its maritime climate makes
for a welcome relief from oppressive summer heat in parts of the U.S. There are numerous scenic drives leading to the charming
towns that dot Nova Scotia's coastline. Venture further afield to disover the land of the New World's original French settlers
(Acadians, the ancestors of Louisiana's Cajuns) and where French is still spoken today. During the summer, take a whale watching
boat trip. Finally, spend a few days in the rugged natural splendor of the "other" part of Nova Scotia, Cape Breton.

New Orleans
I grew up in this special city! Stay in a quaint B & B or a grand hotel, as you wish...away from the bustle and action
or right in the middle of it. Dine in some of the world's best restaurants, from the famous to the holes in the wall and neighborhood
haunts that have been reborn after Katrina. Follow in the footseps of history all over town during the day, then tap your
toes or get up and dance to great music into the wee hours. Discover antique treasures and acclaimed artwork to be found in
the city's shops and boutiques. The best way to help the city is to contribute to its tourism economy. But you may also wish
to swing a hammer while you're there to make another kind of contribution, that of your own labors.

New York Cultural Overdose
There are hundreds of hotels in the city, but maybe you'd like to have your own space and rent an apartment by the night
or by the week? Or get the feel for a particular neighborhood and try a Manhattan B & B?! I'll give you the scoop not
only on the big theater productions you've already heard about, but on the dozens you haven't, from off-off Broadway to "just-off
Broadway" theater companies that create many of the shows that eventually move to Broadway. Take in a dance performance,
opera, cabaret, a night at the clubs? Visit some of the captivating smaller museums: you've already done MOMA and the Guggenheim?
But have you seen the Neue Gallerie, the Frick Collection, or the Cooper-Hewitt? How about a photography museum, or one devoted
to the city of New York, or a fashion collection? A trip to Brooklyn? When I say I love New York, I mean it!
