FROM THE PREZ

The free agent signing period started on March 2^nd and the Browns struck quickly. As of this writing the team had signed three free agents with Cincinnati guard Eric Steinbach being the main prize. Four years ago the Bungles were able to grab Steinbach a few spots ahead of us in the draft and he went on to start every game for them since. This is definitely a major upgrade at a weak position for the team. Also in the fold is line back Antwan Peek and journey man corner back Kenny Wright. Wright will help add depth to the depleted CB position. Peeks should help at OLB. After losing playing time with Houston when they switched to a 4-3 alignment, Peeks comes back into the 3-4 defense the Browns employ where he’s more comfortable and has had past success. On the other side of free agency WR Dennis Northcutt left the team to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. While Northcutt occasionally had some brilliant games he all too often left us frustrated with his dropped passes and fair catches in crucial situations. Good luck to Dennis. Though he came up short at times, he gave his best and was a good citizen off the field and a good team player on it. These signings will help fill some holes but there is still work to be done. As of this time there is a lot of talk about what the Browns will do on draft day. Talk shows on the radio are full of scenarios of what the club should do. Some of it is intelligent discussion and a lot of it is just plain nonsense. There are way too many morons out there who have all the answers. It can be quite amusing at times and quite annoying at other times. Hope to see you at Sunday’s meeting. --JB

Our March General Meeting will be on Sunday, March 11^th at 1:30PM in the upstairs lounge of the Maple Grove. Stop up for the latest club info or to share your own ideas with other club members. We’re always open to new members or any exchange of information that can help us move forward. Your input as always is appreciated.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Saturday, April 28^th will be our Annual Draft Party. As always there will be a free spaghetti dinner for all paid members and there will also be raffles. By this date we should hopefully be able to let you know the date of our Annual Charity Steak Roast. The Steak Roast is usually the second or third Saturday in August on the date of an away pre-season game. For the latest info or if you would like to help out on any events, come to a General Meeting or contact JB at 216-581-7972.
