New PE M39 Nia Fusion Fitness
Introduction and practice of the Classic Nia Technique, a creative fusion fitness practice with concepts and simple movements from martial arts, dance, and healing arts. Through cardiovascular, muscular, and mind-body conditioning the Nia Technique helps you connect to your inner rhythm and enhances body awareness. Nia fusion fitness empowers you to achieve physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing through a safe and pleasurable mind-body conditioning approach. Nia requires no special attire or equipment, in fact you are encouraged to take off your shoes to receive all the benefits of Nia movement and sensation. Nia is fun, and adaptable to all levels of fitness and ability.

PE M39 Nia Fusion Fitness Spring 2010 class will be on T & Th, at 8:30a.m. When enrollement opens for this class, visit the Moorpark College website to register, look for PE M39, see link below.

These courses are now web enhanced. Once you are enrolled through Moorpark College you can log onto Webstar, and link to WebCT Vista Learning Center. Once linked into WebCT you will see the course PE M39, open the course and you will have access to the syllabus and other course materials including new video clips.

I absolutely love Nia! It is such a pleasant environment for one to be creative in movement and break out of the stresses of everyday life.

Nia is a very fun exercise. It doesn’t even feel like exercise. I think if everyone did Nia for an hour a day, the world would be a better place because people would learn that it is OK to laugh at yourself, be yourself, and live your own way.

•Since Nia I have found a new respect for non-weight room manly typical workouts. I thought this was a girly workout at first but then I was sweating lots, and was sore after a few sessions. I've gained balance and new confidence in my abilities to bend more, and my senses have definitely improved. Also, I learned more & as they say, knowledge is power!

•There are so many ways that I am feeling the positive effects of Nia. Like the way I feel physically energized, relaxed, and peaceful after class.

•I have learned to accept myself and know my limits. I listen to my body and that little voice inside my head. I enjoy moving and I feel healthier and happier.

•This is my second semester dancing Nia. Nia has given me so much energy, confidence, and a higher self esteem. I love dancing to the songs, my body just goes with the flow. Nia is so incredible, I don't stress like a used to, I'm more relaxed, and a lot happier with my body. Nia is not just another boring gym class, it is completely different it will change your life

•Saturday I attended a party and I am learning to relax more with Nia, I was able to dance more uninhibited, thanks!

•My Nia experience has been enjoyable. The music is relaxing and energizing. The movements make my body feel more awake and alive. Through Nia I’ve become more open and accepting of my movements and more in tune with different parts of my body.

•I’ve learned to rediscover my body, to pay attention to the notion that I am alive. Much of the time we go through the routine of our days without seeing ourselves. Now I see the energy in myself and the potential in me. Also, I have always been shy (timid) with some low self esteem and Nia is giving me confidence in myself. I think it is giving me freedom to achieve what I want. Thanks for bringing it to us, I appreciate it a lot.

•Over the past several weeks I have lost inches in my core. My stomach muscles are becoming a lot stronger, even muscle that I wasn’t aware that were there are becoming more defined. This class has really helping me get back into shape.

•Something special is happening when I participate. The music is so invigorating. I loose myself to the sensations in my body. I can't wait to really let go and finally lose the stiffness I've had imprinted in my joints and movements through all my other kickboxing classes and aerobic classes. The fluidity, flexibility and mind freeing movements in Nia allow me to release stress.
