Volunteer Recruitment
Pandemic Flu Information

The Newtown District Department of Health is continually working to make sure that the residents of Newtown are safe.

With the recent addition of Bridgewater and Roxbury to the Health District, we are working to bring ourselves current on their needs as well as our own.  The Newtown District Department of Health is also responsible for assisting Brookfield during a public health emergency.

We have plans in place or in development to respond to almost all types of emergencies.  Our office is also located next to the office of the Fire Marshal which is in charge of Emergency Management for the town of Newtown.  Our staff goes to many trainings and conducts our own education excerises to ensure that we are ready to respond.  We cannot do this alone.  We need your help to so that we can respond the most efficient way we can.  We need medical and non-medical volunteers for many different types of jobs.  Please visit the volunteer recruitment page for additional information and to sign up.

Our most current planning efforts are focused on mass dispensing of medications (should the need arise), Pandemic Flu, evacuation and sheltering, and quarantine and isolation.
