EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

Welcome to our web site!

The Newtown District Department of Health is committed to making sure that the residents of our member towns, Newtown, Bridgewater, and Roxbury are protected in the event of a Public Health Emergency. The Newtown Health District is also responsible for assisting the Town of Brookfield in any mass dispensing in response to a public health emergency. We are continually participating in training to better prepare our staff and are frequently updating our plans and procedures to ensure that we can respond effectively in the event of an emergency.

In these uncertain times, we must be ready to respond to any problems that may arise.  Whether it's a natural disaster, health outbreak, or an act of bioterrorism our district is dedicated to ensuring that we are prepared to respond in the event of an emergency.

We cannot do this alone.  We need your help to make this district ready.  Please follow the link the volunteer recruitment page to learn how you can sign up to help.  We are looking for medical and non-medical people to help in all types of expertise and interests, in the event we need to respond.

The first part of preparedness is to ensure that you yourself are prepared.  On the home safety page, you will find interesting tips and facts on how you and your family can prepare for an emergency, including making a family plan.
