  Some light sensitive CDS sensors may prove useful in measuring and logging low nocturnal light levels. Here is an example of such a sensor for a HOBO logger that was made from a CDS cell which, unfortunately, is now out of production.  
One technique that can address many bat monitoring challenges is the use of remotely mounted transducers, and reflectors.
This compact, long-term monitoring configuration may provide you with some ideas on how to implement one ( or more ) of your own.
Microprocessor based equipment, like Data Loggers, can generate unwanted acoustic ultrasound. Here is a case in point !!
