16mo (6 3/4 inches) Brown calf skin leather soft cover, with a tooled border. The top edge of the pages are gilt. Many of the pages are uncut, as issued. The protective leaf for the title page appears to be made of celluloid; it feels like plastic and has clear and opaque areas. Published by the Wisconsin Dramatic Society in 1912. This is a first edition. The dedication is to Thomas H. Dickinson. The page opposite the dedication page reads: "The Wisconsin Series of translated and original plays published by the Wisconsin Dramatic Society at Madison, under the general editorship of Thomas H. Dickinson." This is a heart-wrenching story about a Winnebago squaw and the impact that a white man makes on her village.
The People of the Story:

Condition: Very good plus. The leather cover is soft and pliable. The edges, however, are worn, especially the spine. A slight residue appears on the hands if less than gentle care is used. There are some scratches and imperfections, but these may be natural variations in the leather. The interior is fine. The binding is tight and square. There is an owners signature on the end page. (Not Dickinson's) The uncut state of many of the pages implies that this book has not been read.
This is truly a beautiful book! The protective leaf for the title page shows the high quality of material used. This is a fine example of a book as artwork. It is a delight to hold and to read.
