12 mo (7-7/8 inches) Green cloth hard cover boards. There is gilded lettering and detail on the spines. The covers have a blind stamped border and tree design. Published by P. F. Collier in 1906 as a reprint. This is the complete 25 volume Argonaut Edition set, with index. Each volume is illustrated with a black and white frontispiece. Many of the books in this set have two or more complete novels, and each book has about 450 pages.
Condition: Near Fine, overall. (Some are fine, some are very good plus.) There is very little rubbing or bumping. The covers are clean, bright, and well-textured. The bindings are tight and square and the hinges are strong and solid. The spines are very good; the gilding is mostly bright, but they are slightly tinted. The interiors are near fine, they have that almost-unread feel. There is, however, some light foxing and some other scattered and minor blemishes.
This wonderful collection includes the popular novel 'Luck of Roaring Camp'. Harte was a writer of poety and western fiction. He was a contemporary of Mark Twain. The Argonaut Edition is rarely offered for sale as a complete set. These books look good on the shelf, and are a comfortable size for reading. Here is an excellent opportunity to have a complete set of Harte's most popular and important work, including a few scarce titles.
