Sharon Silvia - About the Artist

Sharon Silvia, a self-taught digital artist, has been creating art since she was a child. She set about creating pencil drawings, oil paintings and clay sculptures, inspired by her 4th grade art teacher, who had lost her painting arm during WWII, yet continued painting by teaching herself to create art with her remaining arm.

Sharon earned her Associate in Arts degree, married and set aside her dreams of being a professional artist. During the following twenty years, crafts replaced painting and drawing. The emergence of computers drew her back into painting.

Ever since her initial introduction into the world of digital art, with CorelDraw 4, Sharon has used Corel's Photo-Paint as her palette. Her digital art toolbox was strengthened with the addition of a Wacom Graphics pen and tablet, which she uses as her digital paintbrush.

For the last five years, she spent most of her time creating and managing an Art and Technology Web site for About.com, one of the Web's leading content providers. Currently, Sharon is dedicating her creative energy to her digital art, miniature polymer clay sculptures and polymer jewelry.
