Welcome to Batavia 253, Recently lauded as the Most Improved Civil Air Patrol Squadron in the Finger Lakes Group!

This page is dedicated to our Squadron and highlights some important areas that may be of interest. We will also show you some photographs of activities that are paramount to the mission of the Civil Air Patrol, and how fun and exciting it is to participate.
Many organizations today would like you and/or your children to participate for one cause or another, but the Civil Air Patrol is different from most others in many ways.
In the CAP we make learning about Aerospace fun and exciting, while at the same time teaching discipline, moral leadership, and teamwork in a Military environment.
The Civil Air Patrol is an Auxillary of the United States Air Force and follows the same rank structure, and many of the same rules and regulations.  It is  a great environment for children to grow and develop into young men and women, while gaining friends and experiences that will last a lifetime.

My apoligies to all as it has proven tough to keep up on the page, with all of the other duties and just life in general, but I do not want to make excuses, and promise to make a better effort, as I know at this point some of this page is out of date.

I want to speak a bit about conduct, military bearing, and setting a proper example.

It is absolutely critical as a member of the Civil Air Patrol, US Air Force, US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Coast Guard, or any other service that you choose to join (yes, there are others) that you set a proper example in public.

When you sign on, everyone sees you in the uniform, and knows what it stands for.  You are different from other members of society and are expected to set the example for others to follow, both in thought and deed.  When one person is out of line, it looks bad on everyone, and no matter what the Service tries to do to regain a good reputation, it is a hard road.

End of the story is this, watch what you do and say, and the way I always check myself is this "would my family be proud of me if they saw me doing this or learned of it?"  If you stay within those guidlines, you will most likely come out ok.

Remember, there are a whole list of folk that are willing to help in any situation for you doing nothing more than asking for assistance.
I invite you to visit our Squadron on Thursday night at 6:30 at the Genesee County Airport in Batavia. Our Staff and Cadets are more than happy to answer any questions you may have about the Civil Air Patrol and how you can join.  We look forward to seeing you!
