About This Genealogy

This web site contains a database of information on all of my direct ancestors. An Explanation about the Information in This Database

last name:
This field contains the last names of all of my direct line individuals. There is usually more than one record for married females. At least one record lists her maiden name and the time period(s) and place(s) she lived with this name. The other record(s) lists her with her married name along with her maiden name in parentheses, and the time period(s) and place(s) she lived with that name.

firstname:
The first name of all of my direct line individuals is entered in this field. If there is an individual with the same name as another individual, the second one has a dash and a number after his first name to distinguish him from the other individual.

live years:
This field contains the years in which my ancestor lived-their known lifespan. If there is evidence of the person's birth year or death year, an asterisk is placed after the date. If there is only information about the time they were living, then the dates in this field will have no asterisks.

spouse:
Information in the spouse column provides additional help with the identification of my ancestor.

generation number (#):
I need to know what particular person of a particular surname has been traced the furthest back. That is the field where the generation number is stored. The furthest back I can go with that individual's surname gets generation number 1.

place years, state, county, city:
While the live years column records the total known life span of the person, the place years will record the years in which the person lived in the state, county, and city fields.
