About Us

Create-away Cottage is a thoughtfully designed retreat located approximately 65 miles north of Dallas/Fort Worth in the peaceful countryside of Grayson County, Texas. The retreat is a great place to get away and enjoy time working on your favorite craft project, or to simply relax with your friends.  

Why open a "creative" retreat?

I got the idea for Create-away Cottage after going on quilt retreats with my friends.  These weekend escapes gave us dedicated time to endulge in our favorite pastime while gaining from each other's ideas and enthusiasm.   We returned home with both renewed energies and stronger friendships. 

After that, I was hooked on retreats and I started thinking about opening one of my own. With encouragement from my family and friends, Create-away Cottage became a reality in January 2004.    Since then, I have had the pleasure of serving the retreat needs of quilters, scrapbookers, beaders, ceramic artists, needleworkers, and others. It is a joy to share in their passion for their crafts.
