About

The Naked Desert is a private, not-for-profit art project in its Forth year. This is an overnight gathering in the remote hi-desert of Southern California, themed around photographing the naked human form in a beautifully dramatic setting. The event combines a photographic art project with fun social interaction where both aspects are key.

The event is the brain-child of Art Director Carnyval, and has been photographed by award-winning Nakayama Studios. 2007 brings us two talented photographers, Jen Moore and David Winge.

Art Project
The Naked Desert celebrates the full spectrum of the body's form. The cast is intentionally diverse, often with no modeling experience, and includes all genders, ages, shapes, sizes, and hues. This is to be a photo art project above all. Photography runs almost continuously from before sunset until after sunrise. Models are free to participate, rest, eat, sleep, or socialize as they prefer. Some shots are planned (with suggestions from the cast encouraged), while others are spontaneous. Some focus on individual models; others are group compositions. A great opportunity for couples to have one of a kind portraits taken that they'll never forget. Digital images from the Naked Desert will be available to all participating cast members.

Camping Trip
The Naked Desert is not just a photo shoot. It is also a social event, a gathering of interesting participants in a beautiful setting. Beyond the photography, there are campfires for warmth and relaxation, food and drink to enjoy, and many new friends to make. The event is definitely about fun, not work. The photography rarely includes all models simultaneously, so there is ample opportunity for off-stage socializing.

Requirements
Participation is central to the Naked Desert's energy. To that end, attendance is limited to active cast-members and crew ... no "spectators." The premise of the event is nudity, however full nudity is not required. If you're not comfortable with nudity in it's many forms, ND may not be for you. The event is in a remote location, accessible often only by dirt roads. The terrain should be a consideration in vehicle selection. Ride-sharing is encouraged, which the Administrative Staff can help coordinate. As we'll be spending the night on location, bring whatever camping and sleeping gear you'll need. Although refreshments are often communally shared, you should be self-sufficient.

Legal Stuff
Models must be at least 18 years of age. Participation requires signing a legal agreement and waiver, covering issues of privacy, ownership, license, etc. NO FEE is charged to take part, and participants should do this for their love of art, as the only compensation is a complete CD works, intentionally limited to participants. Distribution of Individual images may only be sold with the permission of all included models.
