Listen.    Observe.    There is something to learn, given attention.    Go.

If you are able, go see Cirque du Soleil in performance. It is personal that way.

As for writing, as for living - so what are you going to say if you can't even see? While our society may be less than fully supportive, mostly what blocks our path are our own judgmental attitudes and unwillingness thus to see and experience. Carol Queen has and continues to step across that line in the sand, especially as it regards our sexuality. She is also a worker/co-owner of Good Vibrations and involved with the on-going staff sexual education training. Her books include "Exhibitionism for the Shy" (Down There Press, 1995), "Real Live Nude Girl: Chronicles of Sex-Positive Culture" (Cleis, 1997), and "PoMoSexuals: Challenging Assumptions About Gender and Sexuality" (Cleis, 1997). Ms. Queen also publishes a sex and relationship column via her own website and the Good Vibrations on-line Magazine, along with a monthly opinion column, The Royal Treatment, in the Spectator and Libido Magazines.

    The California Coastal Records Project

Aerial Photographs of the California Coastline
Presented by Kenneth and Gabrielle Adelman
    http://www.californiacoastline.org/

And California is not even one of the smaller states! Yet with some prior experience, the Adelman's took it as their "holy grail" to photographically document the "entire" California coastline from the Oregon border to Mexico. Not done for the sake of art, but rather the "before" images for more practical coastline studies of coastal environmental conditions. However this does not diminish the incredible views which they provide publicly. The current database has over 12,000 images in very high resolution. Typically the images were taken from an altitude of about 500 feet, so detail is more than abundant.      Smile and wave for the camera!

southwest National Parks of the American Southwest

A Photographic Journal by John Crossley

    http://www.americansouthwest.net
From panoramic vistas of red earth and white on blue sky to the embracing deep hues and intimacy of slot canyons, John Crossley presents a detailed and vast array of photo images of the American Southwest that includes Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas and California. As well photographed as are most of his images, it is equally amazing that this website is the product of one man sharing his passion for this unique landscape. The website is superbly designed and easy to navigate despite the breadth of coverage.

It is also an interesting companion to the growingly appreciated books of Craig Childs, naturalist, adventurer, desert ecologist of much this same territory, and who manages somehow not only to witness and deeply participate but also return and share his vision with equal craftsmanship. His books include "The Secret Knowledge of Water" and most recently, "The Soul of Nowhere".

The Hahbi 'Ru Middle Eastern Dance Ensemble co-founded and co-directed by John Compton and Rita Alderucci in 1991 both performs and teaches their particular form of Tribal Folkloric Middle Eastern dance out of San Francisco, California. Both studied with Jamila Salimpour and were past featured dancers with Bal Anat. Their website provides both performance and training information along with bio's of their troupe.

Bal Anat founded by Jamila Salimpour, is something the parent of contemporary American Middle Eastern dance as it is now expressed in a variety of forms whether directly or otherwise. Bal Anat began in 1968 in response to a performance opportunity at an outdoor theme festival, the Renaissance Pleasure Faire. Part culturally authentic, part whatever seemed to please, it crafted itself into a style and face that greeted and introduced this dance form to many thousands of visitors. Jamila provides a history of Middle Eastern dance in this country.

eichler Eichler Design - Enter the World of Eichler Design

A photographic essay on Eichler homes

    http://www.totheweb.com/eichler/
Is it something akin to those first Mustang cars, something that made a new way of seeing more available? And there are yet devotees of these once modernist style Eichler design homes, clean and simple of line and above all else "open", inviting the outside in, and that 50 years on still have that "modern" look. This website is a loving look at those Eichler homes. For more practical information of everything Eichler, visit the Eichler Network online.

Community Supported Agriculture - EcoBusinessLinks, Environmental Directory

    http://www.ecobusinesslinks.com/community_supported_agriculture.htm
What sort of impact do you have on the environment? Do you even grow your own food? No land or time or skill? Well perhaps you can move a part of your food purchases to a CSA, Community Supported Agriculture: a local farm intended to grow organic foods in direct service of their local communities without the grocery chain store middle-man. This is an opportunity to receive locally tended and truly farm fresh produce and support small independent farmers too. Read here more about CSA's, as well find directories of farms that might right now be within your own local community. Many other eco-friendly resources are also listed here.
Residents of the San Francisco peninsula lady might visit the Mariquita Farms website.
