Undone
When you seemed away from me,
yet no farther than across the bed,
and with one word inside my thought
then greater the distance became,
all inside as it ever was.
And my words can only hint,
only be smoke to the truth of me.
Were you even awake when I felt that pain?
Into those unspoken silent inches my eyes
Time turning the wheel of heart,
till light spoke again across even
unlighted space, past lies
of reasonable thought.
I read your face and that one heart,
can't even say clear yours or mine,
and just so remained beside
Let eyes teach again.
