Paths chosen.
Three, of Five Healing Poems
Each day is partly an echo of the day before.
Fading slowly, subtle persistence,
spells of black and white.
The sweet dancing blossom of your voice.
The soft marbled texture of your skin.
The translucent scent of your sex.
Some things diminish out of view.
The smile your memory writes across my lips.
The trail of delight, threads yet to unwind.
Prayers cast in your image, gifts now
carried by spirit, sailor on the river.
The trials and persistence of faith,
now embossed by your radiant devotion.
These take breath each dawn and linger,
as I linger, adding my color to sky's blue.
I understand now how things change and
stay the same. Why wishes, dreams, memories,
senses - cannot be set free alone. Even now,
parted, God's gift in you enlivens me.
Who I am now is partly you.
Just so, my loving settles into the winds,
feathers finding balance near the horizon,
within sight of home, yet near to heart
and the warmth of you, leaving traces,
a whisper in the air beside you.
