This is our Echo Star / Dish Network 301 Satellite Receiver.

We purchased our Dish Network 301 Satellite Receiver from Costco in Bellingham, Washington. The 301 Satellite Receiver (shown on the top shelf) is an introductory Satellite Receiver.  The 301 Receiver Video Outputs include Composite and S-Video only. There are no Component or DVI-D Video Outputs. The 301 Receiver also lacks the Digital Audio Outputs for Dolby Digital 5.1 listening.  The bottom line is that the 301 Satellite Receiver is free (after a year's subscription).  We intend to upgrade to the Dish Network High Definition Satellite Receiver 811 and later, when prices drop, we plan on purchasing the Dish Network High Definition Receiver / Recorder DVR-921.

This is our Monster Cable AVS-2000.

We purchased our Monster Cable AVS-2000 from an eBay  'Buy It Now' site named "Dad's Toys'.  He claims to be an authorized Monster Cable dealer and the delivery went well.  I saved about one third of the price buying it this way.  I did have some misgivings about this purchase because we have a pretty stable power supply in our corner of Washington State.  However, I think it was a good investment, especially since we got our Fujitsu Plasma Monitor.

I do notice some clicking noise that comes from the AVS-2000.  I assume this noise is produced when the AVS-2000 is adjusting voltage.  I did sent the AVS-2000 back to the Monster Cable factory when I thought it wasn't working correctly and got a new AVS-2000 unit at that time.
