Falconry is the sport of hunting wild quarry in its natural habitat with trained raptors. Read that again
carefully: Falconry is a hunting sport. We are all about gamehawking.
Keeping a hawk in captivity without allowing it to fulfill its natural role as a predator is illegal and
unethical.
Falconry, on the other hand, is a highly regulated field sport, pursued by individuals with a passion for
hawks, their prey, and the land that sustains us all. It has been practiced for at least four thousand years, and represents
a unique achievement in the history of human civilization: the falconer forges an alliance with a wild bird, which does not
become domesticated, but retains its wildness and yet becomes a willing hunting partner. We are proud to keep this heritage
alive, and hope falconry will endure another four thousand years.

NFA mourns the loss of founding member, former president, and most recent honorary member Mike Cox. Known for his dedication
to rabbit hawking, and particularly for his skill with goshawks and Harris' hawks, Mike passed away on September 7 following
a valiant year-long battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda and the rest of Mike's family.
