The Renaissance Military Society was founded in 1984 as an umbrella organization for high-fidelity reenactment of the period from 1486 to 1603 in Northern Europe, and a part of the March of St Michael of the Adrian Empire.  The RMS presently consists of three core member units: The Company of Foote; das Schwärtze Fähnlein; and Armstrong's Border Horse, as well as two probationary units: The Academy of St. Adrian, and la compagnie de cheveaux leger de M. Tener.
