Maj William L. Baker

William L. Baker, Jr.

Major, USAF (Ret)

Major William L. Baker, Jr., USAF (Retired) was the initial Aerospace Science Instructor at Emsley A. Laney High School (NC 802) from 1 August 1980 to 30 June 1995. During his tenure, the E. A. Laney High School AFJROTC achieved six Meritorious Unit Awards and one Honor Unit award. He retired from AFJROTC in June 1995 and moved to South Carolina.

Major Baker retired from the United States Air Force at MacDill AFB, FL on 1 August 1980 with over 21 years of active duty and nearly 26 years of military service. His primary military assignments included: Base Recreation Services Officer, Dyess AFB, TX (1964-1965); Chief, NAF Welfare Fund Management Branch, Dyess AFB, TX (1965-1966); Chief Personnel Services Branch, RAF Lakenheath, England (1966-1970); Chief, Morale, Welfare, and Recreation, Myrtle Beach AFB, SC (1970-1972) and RAF Upper Heyford, England (1972-1979). He graduated from high school in Southern Pines High School, Southern Pines, North Carolina. He has a bachelors degree in Education (Social Studies) and a master's degree in Education (Administration and Supervision) from the University of North Carolina.
