Some of the model designations you will run across will be two- or three-letter combinations starting with:
D, direction finders, as in DP, DAK
L, test equipment, as in LM, LR
M, transceivers, as in MO, MBF
R, receivers, as in RU, RAK
T, transmitters, as in TAJ, TBK
Component type designations follow the form CXX-#####-Y such as CRV-46246-A (receiver unit of model RDM receiver)
The initial set of letters are a contractor code, which incidentally is shown on Signal Corps equipment as well.
Some you will see are:
CG-General Electric
CW-Western Electric
CAY-Westinghouse
CRV-RCA
