| EDWARD CLIFTON REESE, a native of Dubois, Pennsylvania,
began his 20 Year Naval Career January 6, 1965 Upon completion of basic
training in Apr 1965, he reported to the U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides)
as Ceremonial Honor Guard. In May 1966 he reported for duty aboard U.S.S.
Sierra (AD-18) in Norfolk, Virginia where he trained as a Navy Lithographer.
In 1968 he was assigned to the Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. In Nov.
1970 he was assigned to the U.S.S Simon Like (AS-33) home ported in Charleston,
S.C. His next assignment was in January 1972 as a recruiter in Western
New York. After recruiting he returned to sea aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal
(CV-59) in Norfolk, Virginia, and Mayport, Florida. During this tour he
achieved the rank of Chief. After 3 years of sea duty, he again returned
to shore as the recruiter-in-charge in the Rochester, New York area. He
completed 8 years in recruiting management and retired 1 July 1984 as Senior
Chief Navy Counselor. Later he joined the New York Naval Militia where
he attained the rank of and office of Command Master Chief.
Senior Chief Reese’s personal decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, 4 Good Conduct Medals, Navy 'E' Ribbon, Sea Service Ribbon, and 17 Gold Wreaths for Excellence In Recruiting. New York Naval Militia Meritorious Service Medal and Defense of Liberty Medal for 9112001 War on Terror. He is the son of George Edward Reese and the former Dorothy Irene Shaffer, newly deceased. His sisters and brother are: Sandra Jean Streeter, Kathy Irene Austin and Gerald Vernon Reese. Edward Reese and Letha Fugate, of Niagara Falls, New York, had a son, Steve Edward Fugate, born August 17, 1965, also of Niagara Falls, New York. He was married to the former Paula??? of Akron, Ohio. They had two children, Yvonne Georgette Reese, born January 27, 1970, deceased January 27, 1970, and Paul Jesse Edward Reese, born February 13, 1971 of Champagne, Illinois. He was also married to the former René Denise Maslin of Ithaca, New York, they had a daughter Courtney Elizabeth Reese, born ???, deceased ???, and a second daughter, Kelsey Jae Reese, born June 25, 1987. Ed is the founder and editor of ReesSearch, a periodical on the Ely Rees Family, and author of this site. He is also the founder of NAVetsUSA, the first Navy Veterans' Organization created on, and for, the World Wide Web. |
