Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
concerning a medical mission to Honduras

We will be adding Questions and Answers for the Mission Trip as this site is developed -- check back often.

Q:  Why a mission to Honduras?  What is our role on this mission?
A:  First, and foremost, we go as called upon, to stand alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ, to encourage them that God has not abandoned them, to lift them up in prayer and care, to help them realize God's plan for their church and its people.  We are serving their vision:  Gerizim reaches out to its community, making disciples;  Gerizim's role in Honduras is as a church-planting church.  Last, through mission we fulfill our promise to Grow, and Go, in Christ.

Q:   Do I need to have previous mission experience?  Medical experience?  Language experience?
A:  No.  You need to have an open heart and be willing to serve.  You will be given the training that you will need to equip you for this mission as a part of the mission team.  Training will happen in three or four sessions that cover everything, from spiritual preparation, to the necessities (what to bring, what to do, and how to do it).

Q:  Cost?
A:  Anticipate that the cost per person for this trip will be approximately $1,000, to cover airfare, other transporation costs, lodging, and food.  In addition, medicine and supplies for the trip will cost approximately $3,000.  There will be opportunities for members of Peace and the Charlottesville community to step forward to provide financial support for the mission trip and defray some portion of the costs.

Q:  What do I need to travel to Honduras?  Passport?  Immunizations?
A:  Yes, you will need an up-to-date Passport.  They may be obtained through the Passport Application Office at the US 29 Post Office in Charlottesville (1155 Seminole Trail).  Immunizations should be up-to-date for Tetanus/Diptheria, Measles, Hepatitis A/B, and Typhoid (recommended).
