Nancy grew up with English Springer Spaniels, however her first showdog was a Komondor imported from Hungary in 1970. After
finishing her championship, and that of her son, she acquired two more Komondor bitches in the late 1970's and bred her first
litter in 1979. After moving to Denver from Philadelphia in 1980, she bought a large boarding kennel with a grooming shop,
continued to show her own dogs, ran a handling class and bred an occasional litter.
Eric's first two dogs were a Komondor from Nancy's first home bred litter and an Ibizan Hound. The Komondor still holds
the all-breed Best In Show record for Komondors; The Ibizan Hound finished his championship and was one of the first CDX titled
Ibizans.
In the 1980's we became more involved with sighthounds and that introduced us to performance events through Lure Coursing.
We also tried our hands at obedience competition. During the 80's we finished championships on dogs of numerous breeds for
both ourselves and others, and placed regularly in the Hound, Working and Herding groups throughout the Midwest. Besides
our many accomplishments in Komondors, one of our most successful showdogs was a Puli with whom we placed in nearly 70 groups
from 1985-1988. We have won 8 Komondor National Specialties, an Ibizan Hound National, 8 all-breed Bests-In-Show and finished
CD's on five Komondors, two Ibizan Hounds and a Tibetan Terrier. We recently finished a championship on a Cavalier King Charles
Spaniel and have now finshed dogs in all seven groups.
In 1988 Nancy was approved to judge her first breeds in the Hound and Working Groups. She has served on the education
committees for the national Komondor, Vizsla and Puli clubs. Eric was first approved to judge in 1992. He is the AKC Delegate
from the Komondor Club of America and is a breed mentor in Komondors, Greyhounds, Ibizan Hounds and Pulis.
We were primary organizers for the educational seminars that are offered each year in conjunction with the Astrohall Series
of Dog shows (now Reliant). In addition to traveling around the country judging and presenting breed seminars, we developed
this Advanced Handling Seminar for the serious enthusiast. The seminar grew out of weekly classes that we taught for the Afghan
Hound Club of Greater Houston. In this seminar we try to pass the benefit of our dog showing experiences to our students.
Nancy is approved to judge all Working and Sporting breeds, some breeds in the Hound, Toy, and Herding groups, Misc.,
Junior Showmanship and BIS. Eric is approved to judge all Hound and Working breeds, 2 Herding breeds, Misc., Junior Showmanship,
and BIS. We both continue to study and learn more about all of the breeds.
We live outside of Houston with, 10 dogs, 2 cats, and two very gregarious parrots named Ernie and Ducky. Nancy consults
as a corporate trainer; Eric is a research geophysicist.
