IT'S ABOUT DARN TIME!!
'SNL' Presents 'The Best of Darrell Hammond' on Nov. 4

Darrell HammondJust a few days before the hotly contested midterm elections, Saturday Night Live presents a special retrospective featuring the show's resident political impressionist Darrell Hammond. Also the longest-running cast member in the history of the show, Hammond gets the "Best Of" treatment on November 4 with a "Best of Darrell Hammond" episode on Nov. 4 (11:30 p.m.-1 a.m. ET). This also marks the first time a cast member has received a "Best Of " special while still in the repertory cast.

With impressions that "continue to amaze," according to The Washington Post, the special will be made up of highlights from Hammond's unprecedented 11-year (and counting) tenure on the show.

After playing President Bill Clinton for most of his time in office, Hammond has taken over playing practically the entire Bush Administration from Vice President Dick Cheney to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld … sometimes in the same sketch. Hammond impersonated Vice President Al Gore in a performance so telling that it was used as a reference in the real candidates' preparation for the 2000 Presidential debates.

Other memorable impressions to be revisited in the special include Hammond's Regis Philbin, Donald Trump, "Celebrity Jeopardy" contestant and Alex Trebek (Will Ferrell) nemesis Sean Connery, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Fox News' Geraldo Rivera.

Lodged subconsciously in the minds of most people is the knowledge of how to copycat another person's voice. It is called the art of impersonation, and I have always admired those who could do it - greats like Phil Hartman, Darrell Hammond and Frank Caliendo.
