Out and About: Weekend Picks
SATURDAY:
There are plenty of reasons to love Sean Connery. His status as the only true
James Bond. His endearing turn as Indiana Jones' father in The Last Crusade. Images of Darrell Hammond's "I'll
play your game, you rogue!" impersonation on Celebrity Jeopardy. The American Film Institute is
apparently a fan as well, honoring him with a lifetime achievement award, and AFI Silver's marking the occasion with a retrospective
of his work. Catch The Molly Maguires on Saturday at 1:45 p.m. and The Man Who Would be King at 6:45 p.m., with

No Blue Collar Comedy at Florida Bar Convention
Comedian Bill Engvall, of Blue Collar Comedy fame, has been replaced by
Saturday Night Live comedian Darrell Hammond as the performer for the Florida Bar’s June 23 “Justice in Jeans” dinner show.
Hammond is the longest-tenured performer on the NBC sketch comedy show and is probably most famous for his impressions. His
impersonation of Al Gore during the 2000 presidential campaign was so dead-on that Gore’s handlers made the candidate watch
the famous debate skits featuring Hammond and Will Ferrell as George W. Bush. Engvall on his Web site said he canceled the
performance to film an upcoming movie also starring Larry the Cable Guy. The movie, titled “Delta Farce,” tells the tale of
a pair of National Guardsman billeted to Iraq but instead sent to Mexico. They don’t know the difference and hilarity ensues.
Tickets for “Justice in Jeans” cost $60, $50 for members of the Young Lawyers Section.

In 1984-1986, I live next to, and hung out with, and worked together with Darrell at BJ105
(WBJW now MIX105.5 in Orlando. That is when I became one of his "oldest fans" and cheerleaders.
This site is not owned, operated, or endorsed by Darrell. Just a friend helping a friend.
By the way D, are you still using those pots and pans I gave you?
