Lap up the laughs at ComedyFest
By GRAEME MCRANOR, 24 HOURS
As daylight falls back and prepares for its limited winter run, take solace in September and all its festival fun.
Fringe is in full swing, the Vancouver Film Festival kicks off Sept. 27 and, nestled right in the middle, is the Global
ComedyFest, which starts tonight at Lafflines with Grammy Award-winning comedian Tommy Chong.
This year's comedyfest spans 10 days and includes performances from Jon Lovitz and Darrell Hammond, two of Saturday Night
Live's most-loved cast members.
There's also the first annual "Baked Sale" at the Yale, Sept. 20. Olympic Gold medalist and second-hand THC aficionado
Ross Rebagliati hosts a night of hilarity featuring a bunch of comics telling jokes about marijuana.
But there's more in the comedy pot, so to speak: David Cross (Arrested Development), Bob Odenkirk, Graham Clark (sober
Graham or drunk Graham?), Todd Glass and many more.
ComedyFest runs from Sept. 13-22. Tickets are on sale now. Visit www.comedyfest.com for more info.

Is Saturday Night Live alive and kicking?
Over more than three

Aug 25, 2007 04:30 AM Rob
Salem - The StarTelevision Critic
Is Saturday Night Live back from the dead? Or has it become a tired and toothless anachronism with one foot in
the grave?
The answers are yes and no – to both questions. Over more than three decades, the venerable late-night institution has
had its peaks and its valleys, its ebb and flow, the best of times invariably followed by the worst. Continued

BuzzKill
DYLAN Hundley - the cute, WASP-y blonde who starred in "Metropolitan," the 1990 Whit Stillman
film about rich Manhattanites on the cusp of adulthood - is back in the movie business as a producer. Hundley is in town shooting
"BuzzKill," which she describes as "a cool little comedy road film." The low-budget indie is about a struggling writer, played
by Daniel Raymont, trying to get to L.A. for a meeting with just $400 in his pocket and a broken-down car. The cast
also includes Darrell Hammond as a serial killer as well as Reiko Aylesworth of "24" and Krysten Ritter
of "Until Death."
