The Myopathic Muscular Therapy Association was founded in 1989, by Don Christner, N.D. Our goal is to preserve and to teach Myopathic Muscular Therapy as it was developed by Dr. Claude Clarance Heckman, D.O.

Myopathic Muscular Therapy is a therapeutic method that is extremely effective, gentle on our clients and easy on the practitioner. We offer beginning, intermediate and advanced comprehensive AMTA, WOTA and ABMP approved continuing education workshops teaching the art and science of Myopathic Muscular Therapy.

Myopathic Muscular Therapy is based on the Osteopathic principle that normal body function depends on normal body structure. Pain in muscle tissue is the result of inflammation caused by a disturbance in the blood and nerve supply to a specific region. All blood and nerve supply travels through muscle tissue which is the only tissue in the body that can become tense and retain tension. The residual tension (tension above normal) residing in muscle tissue interferes with normal blood and nerve supply which causes inflammation and the symptom of pain.

Myopathic Muscular Therapy reduces residual tension and restores normal blood and nerve supply via progressive and systematic relaxation of the muscle.

Progressive relaxation is accomplished by:
  • Rest
  • Heat
  • Myopathic treatment to the definitely contractured muscles with the hands, fingers and elbows.
