Facing Aft
The M18 diesel engine is to the left. The battery is placed near the engine & macerator thru hulls.
The macerator had to be moved aft about 12 inches (with the hose running under the battery shelf) and the fresh
water pump repositioned higher on the port hull.
SPREADER REPLACEMENT

The new battery switch was placed in the engine compartment, just below the fuel pump. (1) engages
the strating battery while (2) connects to the house bank. Notice the old Dahl fuel filter to the right of the
photo. The original battery switch was retained at the nav station for the house bank (1) while (2) could be used to
connect to the starting side in emergency mode.

Bad Karma on the water. This is the original wood spreader(circa 1984)that has been replaced by aluminum.
When I went aloft, I grabbed the spreader to stabilize myself and my thumb went through the soft underside. The dryrot was
hidden under the aluminum plate at the mast. If you have wood spreaders, I strongly suggest a close look at their integrity.

Changing out the old wood spreader was easy. Notice the missing port spreader. The rig is very stiff and
supported my weight (240lbs) without a problem, even with only one spreader.

TEXAS GETS HOT!!!! I installed a Mermaid Air 12,000 btu reverse air system to make slip time more comfortable. It is located
in the V-berth and exhausts straight down the walkway (notice the silver vent at the botom of the picture) to the companionway
and to a vent in the V-berth. The evaporator is on the left side of the unit and pulls air through the seacock door in the
head and the water tank door under the V-berth. Look to the right for a closer view.>>>>>>>>>>>>

In this picture you can see the wood shelf that had to be constructed to hold the HVAC unit. Just aft of the shelf is the
top of the water tank that remained in place. The control box is located to the left of the unit.
