CASTIGLIA LITERARY AGENCY
1155 Camino del Mar, Suite 510
Del Mar, California 92014
Three agents service the clients
of the Castiglia Literary Agency: Julie Castiglia, Winifred Golden and Sally van Haitsma. Ms. Golden will look at Science
Fiction, Ethnic, commercial and thriller novels, plus narrative non-fiction and some health books. Sally van Haitsma is actively
looking for good proposals (by way of query letters) and her wish list covers literary and women’s fiction, Current
Affairs, architecture, Pop Culture and Science Fiction.
The Agency has
successfully placed many significant nonfiction and fiction titles with major publishers. These sales have also extended to
film, audio, foreign, commercial and electronic rights where appropriate. Several of these books have won awards: SCIENCE
OF DESIRE and SHE WENT TO WAR were listed as Most Notable Books on the New York Times List. MARK TWAIN A - Z published in
hardcover by Facts on File, and in soft-cover by Oxford University Press won the ALA Outstanding Reference Award and LIVING
WITH OUR GENES appeared on Library Journal's list: Best Sci-Tech Books.
The
Agency has accepted as clients many first time authors, both fiction and nonfiction, launched their careers, and is now selling
their third and fourth books. One such author, Laurie Beth Jones, saw her first book, JESUS CEO, published by Hyperion/Disney,
spend fourteen months on Business Week's Bestseller List and appeared on that list again, four years later, as a paperback.
Her second book THE PATH, competed with JESUS CEO staying on that same list for nine months. And her third book JESUS IN BLUE
JEANS appeared for the first time as # 5 on the Publishers Weekly Religious Best Seller List three weeks after publication.
INSIDE THE BUNGALOW and OUTSIDE THE BUNGALOW by Douglas Keister and Paul Duchscherer are best-selling titles and have appeared
on the Architectural Best Seller Lists repeatedly. Seven of the Agency's clients have won San Diego Book Awards.
Afghan author, Tamim Ansary, a client of the agency before the tragedy of September 11 occurred,
wrote an e-mail on September l2 that was sent from friend to friend, and eventually spread to websites and people around the
world. Tamim was besieged with media attention, from Oprah
to 60 Minutes. In April 2002 Farrar Straus Giroux published
a book by Tamim titled: WEST OF KABUL, EAST OF NEW YORK.
The Agency's
areas of interest are: Ethnic, commercial, literary and women's fiction, offbeat mysteries, narrative nonfiction, health,
science, parenting, biography, architecture, interior design, current affairs and niche books.
Initially we accept queries only. For fiction a page or two of writing may accompany the query. No
reading fees. Please note that we do not accept e-mail submissions.
