Now exhibiting with Paint the Parks 2007!
"The Cascades, YNP" - Watercolor (image size 21" x 15" )
This painting has recently been juried into the 2007 Paint the Parks Top 100, a national traveling exhibit featuring paintings inspired by National Parks. This show by PaintAmerica is replacing the famous Arts for the Parks which discontinued their annual exhibit this year after 20 years.
This painting portrays one of Yosemite's lesser known falls, the Cascades, which flow heaviest in Spring, when Tamarack and Cascade Creeks combine to overflow into these beautiful, powerful falls fed by melting snow from from the higher peaks. The lifespan of the falls at this volume is short, usually disappering by summer, which is why many visitors who only visit the park in mid summer have never noticed it. This painting has now moved from my Solo show at First Street Gallery to Westboro Fine Arts in Topeka Kansas, to begin it's nationwide tour with the top 100.
