Carve a Letter Opener
Our April meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on April
10th. Our project will be a letter opener with an eagle. This project was put together by Lowell and Hershal.
Also, please join us for open carving Thursday, 24 April.
Hershal Hospitalized
At the time this newsletter is written, Hershal Borders
is in Kettering hospital for heart surgery. We’ll have an update on his
condition and a card for him when we meet Thursday.
Please Vote
It may not be as exciting as Barack versus Hillary, but
we will hold our annual elections at our April meeting. Please be sure to attend
and help select the folks who will shape our club in the year to come. Better
yet, consider running for an office and be one of those folks. Please contact
Lowell at 513-423-0822 and let him know what office you’d like to run for.
Show Report Made
John Macadam presented the annual show report at our
March meeting. Total expenses this year were $6717.38 (down 4% from last year)
and income was $8153.00 (up 4% from last year) for a net profit of $1435.62. These
figures do not include newspaper advertising, which the club voted to take out of our non-show funds. Despite advertising, show attendance was 477, only twelve people more than last year. Show profits this year are designated for Make-a-Wish Foundation, and the club voted at our March meeting
to round this up to an even $1500.
Dan Meehan presented preliminary results of a survey
of show advertising effectiveness and attendee demographics. He’ll compile
a final report at a later date.
Make-a-Wish to Accept Check
A representative from Make-a-Wish foundation will be
at our April meeting to accept a check for $1500 from the proceeds of our March show.
At our March meeting, Joyce and Marshall volunteered to research a beneficiary for our 2009 show. If you have any thoughts on this issue, please let them know.
Club Projects Needed
As we begin a new club year, we are in need of projects
for our monthly meetings. Currently we do not have any lined up. Even if you don’t have any ideas but would just like to help out, please see Lowell (513-423-0822).
It’s Due Time
Yes, along with robins and warm weather, springtime brings
us renewal time for club dues. Annual dues are due to our treasurer, John Macadam. Please mail your checks to him at
2 Kensington St.
Middletown, OH 45044
Dues are $12 per year, $18 per family. Some of you have won free or reduced-price memberships by selling raffle tickets. Members should turn in dues immediately to avoid being dropped from the club roster.
Would You Like a Catalog From the Woodcraft Shop?
In return for their donation to our show, the Woodcraft
Shop (not to be confused with the Woodcraft chain of stores) asked for our club roster in return in order to mail catalogs. The shop promised not to redistribute the list.
If you do not want your name to go to the Woodcraft Shop, please make a note of this when you pay your dues, or tell
Lowell.
