I want to give you a report on Pablo's exhibit at the Wortham in Houston on April
25th. The day before, we loaded the Jeep with 2 major sculptures weighing about 300 pounds, several smaller sculptures, dozens
of maquettes, half a dozen paintings, one measuring 48" x 28", 155 pen and ink drawings and lots of props. As you can imagine,
the Jeep was packed to the max! I was also waiting for UPS to deliver some art sleeves that I had ordered a month ago. I was
calling the UPS guy on his cell phone every hour asking "Where are you now?" When he was approaching Lampasas, I drove into
town and met him at Skinny's. I had to get those art sleeves! Needlees to say, we worked into the night to finish everything
we had to do.
When we got to the Wortham, everyone was very helpful. The events coordinator let
us set up in the main foyer between the Opera and the Met Dance theater. It took
us nearly 3 hours to set up then we got dressed backstage with the dancers. Judging the reaction of the
people viewing our exhibit, I think everyone was impressed. See the attached photos and let me know what you think.
It was a thrill to have an exhibit in such an impressive venue as the Wortham.
It was fun to mingle with such an elegant crowd. The events coordinator was highly complimentary and invited us back. From
what I understand, Pablo is the first visual artist they have ever worked with. They even put Pablo's name on the marque! Pablo
and Michelle, the director for the Met Dance Company, are already planning for the Fall performance. I will keep you
updated on this.
Thanks to all of you who came and supported us. We really appreciated it. And thanks
to everyone who sent good thoughts and well wishes. We felt your presence there, too!
Love,
Beverly & Pablo
