Meet Magic Maggie O'Boomerang, CD, CGC, Certified Assistance Dog.  Maggie is a "rescue".  I met her when she was about a year old. I was helping to look for a home for her...well, it's a LONG story! But the end is that when she came back into my life for the third time, I decided that Maggie was supposed to be mine. Today, she is absolutely the COOLEST dog I have ever co-owned (I "own" her, she OWNS me). She sneezes on command and knows a bazillion (quite a few) other tricks. I've always had Goldens of the fluffy blonde variety and never imagined that such a red devil as Maggie would steal my heart away! She has taught me more about dog training than any class, book, or seminar has EVER taught me!

Maggie's big claim-to-fame is that she starred as "Sandy" in the Blue Springs City Theater production of the Broadway show ANNIE. Once she understood what was going on, she adlibbed her own "lines" and pretty much stole the show. She even bowed during curtain call!

My current activities include:

I continue to train Maggie...she now has the AKC titles of Companion Dog (CD) and Canine Good Citizen (CGC).  She is a Certified Assistance Dog, trained by me and certified by PAWS WITH A CAUSE, and she has accompanied me on all my house calls to clients and prospective foster puppy homes. And of course, she is my supreme "demo dog" when I give a working demonstration.  We are currently working on the Open exercises in pursuit of AKC's Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title.

We have finished Belle's Companion Dog (CD) title, which she earned with high scores.  Last year, according to the "Delany Obedience Rating System," Belle was ranked as the #1 Irish Wolfhound in the United States at the Novice level.  Belle has now learned the Open exercises and we hope to earn her CDX soon.

My co-owned Standard Poodle (Kipper) has also finished her CD, and we are now training for CDX competition.

I am teaching group obedience classes for BLUE SPRINGS ANIMAL HOSPITAL, and functioning as their main instructor.

My great love is working one-on-one with individuals or families and their dog. I enjoy the personal relationship I develop with my private students, and get a real "high" from the success they achieve training their own dog!
