Pictured is my Irish Wolfhound, Brimstone Belle Starr. She is currently showing in conformation, and
has earned the AKC obedience titles of Companion Dog (CD) and Canine Good Citizen (CGC). She is also gaining experience
in lure coursing. Belle had her showbiz debut when she played the role of "Horrid, The Hound" in Chrisman High School's
production of the musical "CAMELOT." Talk about a scene stealer!
I began obedience training with my first dog in 1976. I began competitive training (for trials) in 1979. I
started giving private obedience instruction in 1983, and later that year began teaching for GREATER KANSAS CITY DOG
TRAINING CLUB where I have taught Puppy Kindergarten, Pre-Novice, Novice, and Open. I also taught obedience classes
for the DOG OBEDIENCE GROUP (D.O.G.) for 10 years, where I taught everything from Puppy through Utility, and beginner Agility.
I have also done some instruction for a few 4-H groups. At one time or another (and some quite consistently) I have been an
Obedience Match Judge (all levels: Pre-Novice, Novice, Graduate Novice, Open, and Utility) for almost every breed club, training
group, and 4-H group in the Kansas City area. I have even been called to Judge matches as far away as Lawrence, Topeka, and
Emporia, Kansas, and Sedalia and Columbia, Missouri.
