Goals of Course:

· Learn and appreciate the material

· Contribute to each class

· Enjoy the course

· Give your best effort

· Build cooperative skills

· Acquire technical writing skills

· Develop problem solving skills

· Further analytical skills

What to Bring to Class:

      ·    Three Ring Binder (for regular notes and handouts)

     ·     Pens (black or blue ink will be used on all assignments that are handed in and red ink will be used when self correcting work.)

      ·    Pencils to make graphs and Scantron tests (Mid-term and Final Exams)

     ·    Metric Ruler

     ·    Calculator (but cannot be shared on quizzes, tests, exams, etc.)

Determination of Quarter Grades:

Each assignment will be given a point value – the bigger the assignment (test/project), the more points the assignment is worth.  Your grade will be determined by using the total-point method, that is a comparison of all the points you earned to the total possible points of all the assignments.  In math terms:

YOUR GRADE = TOTAL POINTS EARNED / TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS X 100%

Class Rules:

       ·   Safety

       ·   Respect others

       ·   Follow school rules

Other Information:

·    Because timely feedback is important, it is imperative that assignments are handed in by the due date.  Work that is not handed in on the due date but is handed in by/on the next class meeting period will receive a 10% deduction in grade – NO OTHER WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED and a grade of ZERO will be given for the missing assignment.

·    When answering questions, use complete sentences that incorporate the question in the answer.

      ·    Extra help is available before, during, or after school - just check your

schedule with mine to see when we both can meet or talk to me at least one day

            prior to schedule a session.

·    Labs or activities missed because of illness or field trips must be made up immediately at a time convenient for both of us or by the following Wednesday after school –  please see me to schedule so I can set up the lab or activity.
