What is Encryptix?
Encryptix is a freeware
stand-alone application that encodes and decodes text, using the
ROT13 algorithm. In simple terms, each letter is replaced with the
13th letter from it. When the letter Z is reached,
counting resumes at the letter A. Spaces and punctuation are not
altered. Text case (upper or lower case) is preserved when the
encoding is performed.
Other Features
This application supports the geocaching.com enhancement of plaintext bracketing. Any text that is enclosed within [brackets] is left unchanged.
Application also supports the alternate encoding scheme used at the Navicache.com geocaching site. This scheme allows for the encoding of numbers and some punctuation, in addition to the alphabet. Navicache does not support plaintext bracketing.
Selective encoding. Allows you to only encrypt or decrypt a portion of the text. Simply highlight the portion of text you wish to work with prior to pressing the GO button. Only the highlighted text will be altered.
HTML Code Conversion. This converts the text into its numeric html code. In this code, each character representative starts with &# and ends with ;. Within is the decimal ascii code for that character. This can be useful when posting certain information to a website. For example, encoding an e-mail address in this fashion makes it difficult for spammers to grab the address from a website. However, the information will display correctly in the web browser. Also, since the resulting code contains no letters, you can include it in text that will be ROT13 encrypted. The portion you encoded with HTML will always show up as plaintext when displayed in a browser. This gives the same effect as using the brackets, without actually having the brackets in the text.
URL Safe encoding for formatting text passed in URL parameters. A URL Unsafe option is also included to decode URL Safe text back into its original form.
Automatic Reformatting of Text. Click the checkbox, and the text will be reformatted when the encoding or decoding is performed. This means that extraneous spaces will be removed, and the text will be reformatted into a single paragraph. The exception to this rule is any text that separated with a blank line. In this case, the blank line will be retained.
Editing buttons. One-click access to pasting text from the clipboard, copying or cutting text to the clipboard, or clearing the text area.

probably already have the necessary Visual Basic Runtime files
installed on you PC.
