I presented two clinics at the NMRA convention in Anaheim. Below are the
clinic titles and descriptions. The clinic handouts are available as Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) files.
Layout Design from the prototype
This clinic covered the keys
to understanding how fidelity, scope, and functional layout requirements help define and make practical model railroad layout
designs inspired by the prototype. Notes include references to articles and information sources.
This clinic described how
personality, interaction, and balance are the keys to engaging operating sessions on model railroad layouts. Notes also discuss the role of railcar distribution, transportation of cars in trains, and control
and communications form the basis of an op session. References for additional reading are included.
