Cliffs of the Neuse

Neuse River  Goldsboro to Seven Springs
A very pleasant 15 mile paddle for nine
   paddlers led by Joanne Somerday.

Oct 29, 2005

From a morning low of forty degrees to sixty something, a 1.5 mph current and a Carolina blue sky, the paddle was fast and pleasant with two stops. The Neuse was very low but we had no problems.

We sighted two herons, one flying directly at us and one
coming over from behind. A swimming squirrel was mistaken for another mammal.

Several deer crossed the river at the put in and one deer crossed the river just in front of us and had problems getting through the honeysuckle on the other side.
Deer season underway!
