#1 IS THERE A MOVE IN YOUR FUTURE?
Start with a plan. Now is a good time
to sort the keepers from the discards.
#2 HOW TO DISPOSE OF UN-WANTED ITEMS.
A well planned garage sale will not only do the job, it
can bring in extra money for moving expenses. Also don't forget, there are many community organizations that will be very
happy to pick up your discards and put them to good use by distributing them to the less fortunate.
#3 PACKING
MATERIAL AND PACKING METHODS
IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT CUSTOMER PACKING IS NOT INSURED.
Having
your goods professionally packed by our company is the only way to be covered with the protection you expect from a professional
mover. Packing is usually one or two days prior to the actual moving date. Unpacking can be scheduled the day after the move
if you would like to take advantage of this service. Feel free to call our office for quotes on labor and supplies.
#4 PACKING FRAGILE CHINA AND CRYSTAL
When packing china use only unprinted paper. Newsprint
has a tendency to transfer the ink to the china and cause irreparable damage.
#5 MORE ON PACKING
A
common question: "Can I pack the drawers full?" Answer: Yes! However, drawers in chest and dressers should only be packed
with light clothing items, (no breakables). It is also a good place for pillows, comforters, and similar light but bulky items.
Do not pack the drawers in furniture with fragile legs.
#6 TO DO OR NOT TO DO
Don't pack: matches,
or any flammables. Do clearly mark the contents on the outside of every carton that you pack for easy identification.
#7
IMPORTANT RECORDS
Before you move be sure to collect all of your family's medical, and financial records. Pack
them safely and take them with you.
#8 MAJOR APPLIANCES
Refrigerators and freezers should be
disconnected and thoroughly defrosted, dried, cleaned, and deodorized before moving. If your refrigerator is connected to
a water line, it should be disconnected. Disconnect your washer and completely drain and remove hoses. These can be coiled
and carefully placed inside the washer. We can not and will not disconnect, due to insurance reasons, any appliances
that are connected to a gas line, please have this done prior to our arriving.
