MOVIE LIBRARIANS: LISTING ERRORS
The films below appear on other lists of librarian/library films, but contain neither.
In alphabetical order by title.
NAKED GUN 2 1/2: THE SMELL OF FEARThere's a reason I personally screen each film before adding it to this site, and that's to avoid including titles such as Naked Gun 2 1/2 which appears on another site's long list of library/librarian movies but features not a smidgen of either. Suzy Lafer doesn't PLAY a librarian, for gawd's sake -- she IS a librarian -- the film's Stock Librarian, in fact -- the one responsible for the montage shots during the hanky-panky scene in the film (you know, the train entering a tunnel, fireworks, crashing waves -- "stock footage"). She's a member of the filmcrew. All you students out there, write this down: Believe no one on the Internet until you've confirmed the facts. (Don't even believe me unchallenged. For all you know it's the dog in the picture at the bottom of this site's homepage that actually wrote this drivel and is now going to retire into the corner to lick his butt.)
TARZANBuck, Chris & Kevin Lima (Directors). Tarzan. United States: Walt Disney Pictures, 1999. This film appears on another list of library movies but I think someone confused it with An Extremely Goofy Movie, that otherwise matches the description. No libraries in the jungle.
THE TWO JAKESNicholson, Jack (Director). The Two Jakes. United States: Paramount Pictures, 1990. Starring: Jack Nicholson (Jake Grittes); Harvey Keitel (Jake Berman) This film shows up on a prominent Internet list of movie librarians, but there are no library locales and no librarians. The closest is a notary public in a registrar or county clerk's office. Maybe someone latched onto the idea that a prissy, unhelpful man behind a counter HAD to be a librarian.
