A few words about blimps.... They're definitely cool. Ever since reading the novels of Burroughs, Verne and others as a kid, or seeing airships in films such as The Great Race, and Disney's Island At The Top of The World, I've been fascinated by them. As a computer artist, I experimented with dirigibles quite a bit in the past.

The dirigibles in this archive were rendered using Infini-D from Metacreations. Ninety-nine percent of the landscapes were generated in KPT Bryce 1.0 and 2.0, also from MetaCreations, Inc., and I used Kai's Power Tools extensively as well. Also utilized were the magic powers of Xaos Tools, Poser, and of course Adobe Photoshop, which brought it all together. Some of the images have been featured in PHOTO>Electronic Imaging magazine, and on the KPT 3 and Bryce 2 CDROMs.

The best site on the web for Airship Info is called, of course, Airship, and it's full of great resources. If you'd like to see other alien landscapes and science-fiction and fantasy concepts, check out the art gallery and linking pages, at Mottamorphica 2.0. There are also many excellent science fiction sites on the web, like The Dominion, the website of the Sci-Fi Channel.

I hope you enjoy this latest, third incarnation of Dirigibilious. More may be coming. For some cool airship-related music, take a look and listen to Valles Flying Machine.
