THE STORY OF MOTHERS & DAUGHTERS

This documentary was made by interviewing over 400 women and girls, and learning from them the universal truths as well as the unique individual stories which comprise the mother - daughter relationship.

From those 400 we chose 50 to profile in depth, and they give voice to an experience which hopefully represents all of us, in all our unique diversity, but also with the bond that we all share - the universal human experience of birth, growing up, growing old, and dying. This cycle of life reveals the mother - daughter relationship as it changes over time, as mothers give birth to daughters, who grow up to become mothers who give birth to daughters.

Whether the relationship is perfect or perfectly awful; whether the women are rich or poor; young or old; white, black, yellow, or brown; the mother - daughter relationship is at the core of our lives.

This documentary television program is about that core human experience. At times brutally honest, it is a program that reveals us, as we are.
