Maka: As one of the contemporary bee priestesses, I invite everyone to consider the phenomenon
of CCD or Colony Collapse Disorder from perspective of the Sacred Feminine paradigm. The situation clearly
demonstrates the existence of 'her royal majesty' the Bee Goddess! Bhrameri Devi caused honey bees to appear from the palms
of her hands, and she also has the power to make the bees disappear. (As did the goddess White Buffalo Calf Woman cause
the buffalo to disappear in order to gain the hunters' attention.) I suggest that Brahmeri Devi's now calling honey bees to
mysteriously vanish overnight. Why? To draw attention to the presence of goddesses as an integral element of
nature -- these deities are as real as trees, clouds, bees, etc --here in the unseen dimension all around planet Earth.
And secondly, the bee goddess draws our attention to the ways that these precious sacred creatures--existing at the heart
of beauty & fertility in the natural world-- are being poorly treated as 'slaves' in the global food market.
My background as a beekeeper
for 17 years combined with my role as a goddess emissary leads to this understanding.
Two very distinct scenarios are
happening:
1) honey bees die. In
N America, the population of commercial bee colonies has been steadily declining since the early 1980's when a peak of 1/2
million colonies were registered. Recently, this trend has sharply intensified. In these situations, dead
bees are left throughout the hive & piles of carcasses may be in front of the hive opening. Often, a cause such
as pesticides sprayed on nearby crops or varaoha mites is apparent.
2) bees disappear without a trace. Perhaps the queen and a few newly hatched baby bees are left in the hive which normally has about 30,000
bees. No bees can be found on the ground or anywhere in the vicinity. This happens overnight. The beekeeper
checks the hive and all is well. Next morning, no bees. (reminding of the mysterious Crop Circle phenomena)
I suggest that it's
time to take into account the spiritual dimensions of life & to include goddesses as a natural aspect of our natural world.
We are wise to "feed the holies" -- to make offerings and voice prayers to these great spirits who are ready to assist us
restore harmony to our lives. As it is 'meant to bee'!
