1. My best friend.
2. Someone I would cheerfully give my life for.
3. (var.) Someone without whom I absolutely could not function.
4. (slang) Someone I’ll personally strangle if he tries feeding me algae one more time.

Damn it, Sandburg! (interj.)
1. Stop being RIGHT all the time.
2. If you don’t stay in the truck this time, I will kill you.

1. A state of affairs so complex and confusing that trying to make sense of it gives one a headache.
2. A wild tangent from the main topic of discussion.
3. A system of rules which are all unwritten and, except for lovesick and desperate anthropology students, unspoken.

Depending on inflection can mean:
1. Feeling slightly lousy but carrying on.
2. Feeling really lousy but don't want to wimp out.
3. Hanging on by my fingernails.

I'm fine. (declarative)
1. I'm fine.
2. I'm not fine but I'm not ready to talk.
3. Frustrated Irritated Neurotic and Enraged, go sit quietly in your room for an hour and we both may survive this.

1. A primary color.
2. A hair color that makes a woman 50% more attractive to a Sentinel.
3. A really mesmerising color for a Frisbee.
4. The color a Sentinel turns (and sees) when his Guide does something dangerous.

Retreat (n.)
1. Something a Sentinel never does happily.
2. A place with a golf course.
3. A place with sauna's and massages.
4. A place where you can go for long walks in the woods.
5. One of the places Blair's mom disapears to.
