Been Jaded

He was driving by the place again.

His stomach growled.

His mind growled back, in an even more menacing tone.

Jim sighed. As much as he used to love the place, there was no question he would ever eat there again. Too many issues, too many reminders.

Reminders of a brother officer, who had gone down in a branch chain, halfway across the country. His widow had two small children. And the chain owners had done worse than nothing. They backed up their employee, poured money into the lawsuits, in a despicably effective effort to protect their own good name.
