Once upon a time, a long time ago, a fellow BSG fan wrote me some e-mail and asked me some questions about the show. (BSG is Battlestar Galactica, for those of you who've been deprived ;-)) We chatted a bit and then I lost touch with him. Imagine my surprise when, months and months later, he gave me this web award, "Signs of Intelligence," in December 1996. The award was "...created for the express purpose of honoring web sites that are worthwhile. Yours is an example of a thinking-person's home page." I traced back to the award site and was really impressed by the quality of all the other sites he'd selected and therefore was very touched by the fact that he chose to honor my page similarly.
To make a long story short, he soon thereafter suffered some sort of web disaster and his site (and therefore, his awards page) no longer exists. I'm maintaining his gif on my page as a sort of tribute...because such kindness means a lot to me...especially when it comes at such a time as it did, when I was in need of some encouragement. Thank you, D. K. Smith.
P.S. Please respect his copyright and do not copy or modify his gif in any way. Thanks. Also, the site was called "Tapeheads"...though I don't know why.
