Description:
Intensive workshop where you will be building from raw materials a Scandinavian style all purpose
knife with 3 inch blade to take home.
Steps covered will include the following:
* Where to look for burls, metal, leather, and antler
* Types of burls
* Types of metal
* Tools needed
* Forging the blade
* Hardening at critical temperature
* Tempering for a strong and edge holding blade
* Attaching and shaping the handle
* Polishing the handle
* Applying a natural lasting finish
* Molding a leather sheath to custom fit your knife
* Knife sharpening with a sharpening tool
Other details:
Registration must be received at least 30 days in advance with deposit.
Please arrive the evening before class to set up camp.
Let us know if you have special dietary needs or health issues.
Bring plenty of clothes and warm sleeping gear. Be prepared for chilly and/or wet weather.
