I never really watched talk shows anymore because of all the family bashing and trashing that was going on the shows. However, when Rosie came on, I would sit down and watch. One day, after watching the show, I left the Tv on the channel while I did other things and the next show that came on was "Oprah". In her show, she had "remembering spirit" and she talked about "Angel Network" and the "kindness chain". I was quite intrigued so I sat down to watch. I was quite impressed that a talk show host would venture along these lines when so many other talk shows (except for Rosie) were busy trashing people. The only way I could describe the feeling I felt inside was "warm and fuzzy". She did not discuss religion. She discussed spirituality and how to find your spirit. She addressed issues such as feeling good about yourself, helping others, how kind acts can mean so much and how they can start a chain reaction. She introduced authors who wrote about how to recognize your problems and how to work on them. Yes, she still had entertainers on, but they entertained you, this was not trash tv. I read books I probably would never have bought or read except she had the authors on and I was very intrigued by what they had to say. I love to watch when she has John Gray on. I also loved reading the book "Authenticating Yourself". I find Oprah's shows both entertaining, informative, and very refreshing. I think it takes a courageous person to decide not to do trash tv, and instead offer something for viewers to watch where you can let your kids watch and they might learn something that will benefit them. It must have been a big risk to base her TV show on "Remembering Spirit" and to forge a whole new concept such as Angel network and the "Kindness Chain" in a day when "trash tv" seemed to rake in all the ratings. I especially applaud her for starting "Angel network" where they raise money to send kids to college. She has inspired people in her Kindness chain and in her efforts to help build homes for those who cannot afford them. I think more shows should take a lesson from her and join in the effort to help people remember their spirits and reach out to others instead of showing trash tv (where all you see is people in pain and wanting to lash out to hurt others).
To me, she is an Earth Angel of Tv for she brings the meaning of being an Angel to TV and has shown many how a small act of kindness makes them "earthangels" also.. Please visit her site and check out her Angel Network and maybe you to can "remember your spirit".
