Certified Phono-GraphixTM Reading Therapist and Licensed Trainer Carolyn received her BA in French From the University of Redlands and has a secondary teaching credential to teach French and English.
Over the past 30 years Carolyn has taught at all grade levels, from kindergarten through university, in a variety of settings, including public and private schools, her private learning center and her home where she schooled her children.
Carolyn has conducted Math for Girls (developed at Lawrence Hall of Science, U.C. Berkeley) workshops and SAT Preparation seminars.
In 1988 she began applying her studies and teaching experience, in a clinical setting, to help students who struggle with written language or language comprehension difficulties.
Her experience with decoding/encoding and comprehension remediation is extensive, including diagnostic testing administration and interpretation, training and supervision of reading therapists, and thousands of hours of 1-on-1 instruction.
In 2000, Carolyn began teaching as a volunteer reading teacher in the classroom at New Horizons School (A transitional school for homeless children in Santa Cruz, CA), working with children ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade.
In 1997, Carolyn began conducting Phono-Graphix certification training courses. She has trained hundreds of classroom teachers, parents, private reading therapists and licensed speech-language pathologists.
In 1999, Carolyn conducted a 30 hour education course entitled Helping the Struggling Reader for the University of California at Santa Cruz Extention.
